IDA Programs...
IDAs
An IDA (Individual Development Account) is an account that provides a matched donation for your savings. It is typically an amount for every dollar you put away into a specific savings account which helps you an others achieve a specific goal within a specified period (Typically 1 to 5 years).

 

Other Forms include (IDEAs)

An IDEA is an Individual Development and Empowerment Account for home buyers. In this case, a bank will give you an agreed upon matching amount, and you have to save for at least 10 months. (If you complete a homeownership counseling program, find a home you would like to purchase and get a mortgage... the bank may give you up to three dollars for every dollar you save. The funds can be used for your downpayment or for closing costs.

 

What's the Catch?
You can use these accounts for 1 of 4 purposes:

  • Purchasing a home
  • Paying for education or job training
  • Starting a small business, or
  • Saving or retirement
You must also go to a financial literacy program on managing your money, credit and you must have an earned income source (job). Please call in advance... My seminar may qualify you for this program.
